Jan studied Dutch law at Leiden University and Scottish Legal System at The University of Edinburgh. He also completed various management courses at the International Institute for Management Development in Lausanne, the Kellogg School of Management in Chicago, and Ashridge Business School in the UK.

From 1991 to 1999, Jan was associated as a lawyer with the law and notary firm Trenité van Doorne, successively at their offices in Rotterdam, Curaçao, and Amsterdam.

At the end of 1999, Jan continued his career at HVG Law / EY Law, and from 2002, he became a partner in the Corporate & Commercial section, serving as a board member and compliance officer.

As of July 1, 2024, Jan founded his own firm: Andringa Legal, specializing in advising (international) companies and (semi) public institutions and their stakeholders in healthcare, life sciences & pharma, and the technology sector, in the areas of transactions, participations, (re)structurings, mergers, demergers, governance, contracts, and regulatory matters.
